Purpose: Our culture defines how we build StayX and serve travelers, hosts, and partners.

1) Core Values

  • Traveler First: Optimize for trust, savings, clarity.

  • Ownership & Clarity: Single-threaded owners, written decisions, measurable goals.

  • Speed with Safety: Ship quickly; never compromise on security, compliance, or funds safety.

  • Truth-Seeking: Candid debate, experiments, and data over ego.

  • Earned Trust: Keep promises; document decisions; proactive communication.

  • One Team: High standards, direct feedback, low ego, celebrate wins.

2) Decision Principles

  • Utility, Not Speculation: STAYX exists to unlock travel utility (rewards, credits, discounts, access). It is not an investment.

  • Simple > Clever: Users should “get it” in seconds.

  • Default Transparent: Fees, protocol rules, incident postmortems (as applicable).

  • Regional Reality: Localize language, payments, compliance for priority markets.

  • Security by Design: Threat-modeling and reviews before launch; secure key/secret management.

3) Operating Norms

  • Docs or It Didn’t Happen: PRDs, RFCs, postmortems in a shared workspace.

  • Weekly Cadence: Goals/metrics/blockers reviewed weekly; decisions recorded.

  • Responsible Launches: Feature flags, staged rollouts, rollback plans.

  • Vendor Hygiene: Due diligence for KYC/AML, payments, analytics, and travel partners.

  • Support SLAs: Clear response times; empathetic service.

4) Communication

  • Default Public (Internal): Shared channels over DMs for work topics.

  • Disagree & Commit: Debate hard, decide, then execute together.

  • Plain Language: No jargon in user-facing copy; test with real users.

5) Compliance & Ethics

  • KYC/AML where required; refuse service when mandated.

  • Marketing Integrity: No misleading claims; disclose material terms/risks; no investment framing.

  • Data Privacy: Minimize data; use only for stated purposes; honor user rights.

  • Conflicts of Interest: Disclose and remediate.

6) Inclusion & Well-Being

  • Respect: Zero tolerance for harassment/discrimination.

  • Flexibility: Remote-friendly practices; clear cross-time-zone handoffs.

  • Growth: Feedback culture, learning budgets, fair reviews.

7) Incident Response

  • Defined severity levels; on-call rotations; timely user comms as appropriate.

  • Postmortems within 5 business days; action items tracked to closure.

8) Updates
